VIETNAM GOLF AWARD PUTS FOCUS ON CENTRAL COAST

November 19, 2012

Danang, Vietnam, November 16, 2012 -- The credentials of Vietnam’s Central Coast as one of Asia’s premier golf destinations has been confirmed by the country’s award as Golf Destination of the Year for Asia and Australasia by the International Association of Golf Tour Operators (IAGTO). A year later, Danang Golf Club’s Dunes course, designed by former world number ...Read more...

FAMILY THAIS IN GOLF DEVELOPMENT

November 09, 2012

Thailand -- At a time when golf course development is the domain mostly of multinational companies, three Thai families are showing that an important place remains for private family investment and management in the game that is sweeping Asia. These are far from small-time "mom-and-pop" operations. You don't become a member of Asia's most successful and prestigious golf destination-marketing program, Golf In A Kingdom, without solid credentials; nor do you receive industry accolades and awards, as well as record impressive visitor numbers, without good reason.                                                                                             In each case, the Phornprapha family's Siam Country Club, the Samakoses family's Chiang Mai Highlands and Muang Kaew courses and the Pongsak family's Suwan Golf and Country Club owe their current status in Thai golf circles to the foresight and dedication of the current chief executives' grandfathers. All were visionaries and self-made men ...Read more...

LAGUNA LANG CO SETS NEW STANDARD IN GOLF RESORTS

October 30, 2012

Hue, Vietnam, October 30 -- Coastal golf resorts, with every amenity on site – golf, hotel, spa, dining, water activities and other indulgences – aren’t as common in Asia as you might think. At the high end, they’re rare. So much so that you can easily count the number of fully integrated five-star seaside golf resorts in China, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines on one hand. This changes when Laguna Lang Cô, a world-class development by Banyan Tree Hotels and Resorts, opens this week on Vietnam’s Central Coast. The hotel/championship golf course complex puts a whole new meaning on the term “golf resort” in Vietnam, and indeed Asia. For few, if any, other existing facilities  – on the coast or inland – match what it offers.    For a start, the Sir Nick Faldo-designed par-71 championship course, itself scheduled for a ...Read more...
